Nicolas Lopez – Nevarez, 73, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush.  He was born November 6, 1947, in Durango, Mexico to Guadalupe Meza & Marcelina Nevarez.

Nicolas married Paula Batrez on March 19, 1970, in Durango, Mexico.  In 1984 the Lopez – family moved to Morgan County.  Nicolas worked at Cargill Meat Solutions for 25 years before retiring.

Nicolas enjoyed listening to music, playing cards with his wife, watching football games, especially if the Dallas Cowboys were playing, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Paula; 7 children, Gloria (Eddie) Mosqueda, Sandra (Lorenzo) Vasquez, Maria (Erick) Urbina, Carmen (Orlando) Torralba, Marilyn (Donovan) Lopez, Oscar Lopez and Jesus Lopez;  his siblings, Julia Lopez, Jesus Lopez, Victor Lopez, Rogelio Lopez, Santiago Lopez, and Angelica Lopez, Macario Meza, Juan Meza, Armando Meza, Florentino Meza, Gloria Meza, Juanita Meza, and Lencha Meza; 27 grandchildren,  and 8 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 1, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush on Sunday from 3 – 5 PM with the rosary to be recited at 5 PM.
