Obituary

Norma Jean Cole, 77, longtime area resident, died, Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at her home in Ft. Morgan. She was born April 17, 1935 in Drumright, Oklahoma to Alden and Mabelle Overstreet. Norma grew up in Oklahoma and moved to the Ft. Morgan area from Wyoming over 60 years ago. She married Joe W. Cole on January 6, 1955 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Norma enjoyed doing volunteer work at the hospital and bowling. She and her husband Joe also loved to go "jeeping". For over 20 years they traveled to the mountains in their jeep and went 4 wheeling on the mountain roads. Mrs. Cole is survived by her husband, Joe; two sons, Chris Cole and wife Brenda of Omaha, Nebraska and Dusky Cole of Ft. Morgan, daughter-in-law Cathy Geist of Ft. Morgan, grandson, Mike Cole and his wife Lisa of Keenesburg, great grandchildren, Matthew and McKayla Cole, one brother, Gary Hazelton of Chandler, Oklahoma, and one sister, Sandra Beatch of Newkirk, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Greg Cole. There will be a private family inurnment at Serenity Falls in Ft. Morgan. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society at 2233 S. Oneida, Denver, Colorado 80224. The Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan is in charge of the cremation arrangements.
