Ofelia R. Gutierrez, 74, went to her eternal home Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at her home in Brush. She was born January 1, 1934, in San Antonio – Tariacuri, Michoacan, Mexico to Cecilia Ruiz and Mauro Reyes. On February 17, 1951, Ofelia married Secundino Gutierrez. During their 57 years of marriage, they lived in many locations, traveling and working before settling in Brush. Ofelia was an active member of the Spanish Assembly of God in Fort Morgan for over 40 years. She enjoyed singing in the choir and cooking her famous dishes. She also enjoyed listening to Christian music, planting and tending her flowers and plants, cooking for her family and friends, and watching her Novellas (Spanish Soap Operas). Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, shopping, swimming and most of all, traveling to see her family. She was a woman full of faith and prayer and loved God through the good and the bad. She has instilled a deep faith and love of God in all she knew, but most of all empowering her faith into her family. Her greatest legacy, however, will be the love and support she had for her family and friends. She will be remembered, and missed, as a wonderful mother, grandmother, Olfelia will be greatly missed by her husband, Secundino, and 6 children. Mike Ernie Gutierrez, Cecilia Hernandez, and Ramondo Gutierrez all of Brush; Celia "Sally: Ramirez of Kansas City, KS; Gilbert Gutierrez of Sterling, CO; and Bertha Lomeli of Marshalltown, Iowa; her brothers, Eliseo Reyes and Francisco Reyes; her sisters, Rosa Reyes, Angelita Reyes, Cleotilde Reyes all of Mexico and Carmen Reyes of Brush; and her 19 Grandchildren and 36 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Loreto Gutierrez; grandson, Ezekiel Zacheriah; her siblings, Adolfo Reyes, Jesus Reyes, Mauro Reyes, Victor Reyes and Leonor Reyes and her parents. Thank for loving each of us unconditionally! A celebration service honoring Ofelia will be held Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 10:30 AM at the Calvary Assembly of God, 1012 Eaton Street in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Brush on Friday from 4 – 7 PM.
