Obituary

Oliver Edward Riley, 87, longtime resident of NE Colorado, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at his home.  He was born June 21, 1933 in Genoa, CO to Mnoah & Lettie Riley.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 10:30 am at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush.

Ed served in the US Army in 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955.  On July 27, 1957 Ed married Joyce Nickell in Genoa.  They lived in Denver for several years when Ed worked as a draftsman at the Denver Federal Center.  They later moved to the Woodrow area where Ed served as the transportation director and mechanic for the Woodlin School District.  After retiring from the Woodlin School District, Ed & Joyce moved to Brush.

Ed was an active member of the Community of Christ Church, the Woodlin Lions Club and the Brush Senior Center.  He enjoyed delivering the Meals on Wheels.  Favorite activities that Ed enjoyed included small engine repair, gardening, bowling, playing pool and playing poker with friends.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Brush; 3 daughters, Jodi (John) VanMatre of Westminster, CO; Carrie (Scott) Logan of Estes Park, CO; and Melissa Faison of Brush; 1 sister, Evelyn Riley of Brush, and a sister-in-law, Iris Riley also of Brush; 5 grandchildren, Robert, Andrew, Austin, Megan, and Diana; and 3 great grandchildren, Jameson, Ryland, and Olivia.  He was  preceded  in death by his brothers, Clifford, Lee, and Earl and his sister Marie Brookman.
