OPAL MAXINE GRIFFITH, 91, former Fort Morgan resident, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010, in the inpatient hospice unit at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO. She was born October 1, 1919, near Page Center, Iowa, to Charles & Edna (Tompkins) Dugan. Opal grew up in the Page Center community and attended school and church in College Springs, Iowa. On March 10, 1939, Opal married Eldon C. Griffith in College Springs. To this union three children were born. Rosalie, Larry and Janice. The Griffith's farmed in that community for 26 years until moving to Fort Morgan in 1965. They managed a marketing association in Fort Morgan for twenty years where Opal worked as the secretary/bookkeeper. After retiring in 1985 the Griffith's moved to Sun City, AZ and lived there until 1992 when then moved to Berthoud, CO. Opal's husband passed away suddenly in 1999 and she moved to Greeley, CO and lived there until her death. She did volunteer work for a number of years and enjoyed painting, crafts and sewing. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She loved the Lord, His church and her family. She is survived by two daughters, Rosalie Hixson of Omaha, NE, and Janice Callen and her husband Melvin of Milliken, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Marsha Neilsen; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn DeVore and her husband, Elvin and Patsy Griffith, many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, their son, Larry; three brothers, Harold Dugan, Melvin Dugan and William Dugan; and two sisters, Mary Good and Elma Gilliland. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 30th at 2:00 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
