Opal Faye Pierce, 77, of Brush, died early Friday morning at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was born December 15, 1932 in Akron to Earl and Edith (Wilson) Hayes. She grew up in the Akron area and moved to Montana for 13 years before moving to Morgan County. She was an active member of the Camp Fire USA serving as leader and also serving on the council, she was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, farming and ranching. She especially enjoyed making hand crafts and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Baughman of Hillrose, and Melinda Basnett of McDonald, KS; her sons, Jesse Pierce of Sterling and Patrick Pierce of Durango; one sister, Ruth White of Stanton, CA; one brother, David Kane of Sterling; two half sisters, Rosetta Hutcheson of Bridgeport, NE, and Janice Rucker of Ft. Morgan; one half brother, Edward Hayes of Laramie, WY; eight grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Reggie Pierce, one brother Vernon Hayes, one half sister Ruby Swires, her step mother Rachel Hayes, her husband Curtis Avery "Ben" Pierce, 4 grandchildren and her parents. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
