Orthy J. Brown, 77, Long time resident of Ft. Morgan, died Monday morning at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, surrounded by his family after a long battle with multiple myeloma. He was born January 8, 1930 in Long Pine, NE to Alfred and Wanda Brown. Orthy served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. His first job after being honorably discharged from the Army was with the Fritz Hay Co. He later worked for the Atwood Trucking Co. and for the Achziger Oil Co. His last employment was with Sailsbery Supply until his retirement in 2002 due to health problems. Orthy was an avid Broncos, and Rockies fan, he enjoyed watching all the games on tv. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Orthy was a life member of the VFW 2551. He is survived by his wife Esther of Brush, his son Jerry Binger (Pat) of Ft. Morgan, his daughters; Jo Ann Hammonds (Ernie) of Apache Junction,AZ Judy White (Richard) of Tucson, AZ, Jacque Edkins (Terry) of Cody, WY, Sharon Goodale (Glenn) of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Martin (Rocky) of Brush, and Donna Urban of Wiggins, his brother Fred of Denver, two sisters Dorothy Slattery of Gleason, Wisc, and Grace Akers of Austin, TX, 13 grandchildren Rhonda Edwards Jerry Binger II, David Boston, Darrin Boston, Renee Woolridge, Stacey Hammar, Theresa Danley, Laycee Gaul, Matthew Goodale, Amanda Drossulis, John Martin, Michael Urban, and Eddie Urban, and 12 great grandchildren, Carrie Edwards, Brandon Binger, Blake Binger, Sinead Boston, Carolyn Boston, Ethan Boston, Samantha Boston, Summer Boston, Brittany Woolridge, Dawson Woolridge, Kaylee Hammar and Emma Hammar. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-5pm at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 am at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel with interment to follow in the memory Gardens Cemetery. The VFW 2551 will be presenting military honors.
