Orville H. Funk, 94, of Brush, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009, at the Sunset Manor Care Center. He was born June 16, 1915, in Albia, Iowa, to Harry & Mabel (Day) Funk. The Funk family moved to the Brush area in 1920, where Orville grew up on the family farm north of Snyder (Antelope Springs.) He attended grade school in that area and high school in Brush. Orville married Wanda Davis on November 26, 1934, in Fort Morgan. Together they bought their own farm/ranch in the Antelope Springs area, where they lived and worked until retiring in 1972. Orville and Wanda spent many years wintering in Arizona. Orville was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Family was very important to him and he never missed an opportunity to drop what he was doing so he could spend time with, and help, them. Another source of enjoyment for Orville was the restoration of Model A cars. At last count, Orville had restored more than 20 Model A's. After the death of Wanda in 1995, Orville married Alice Seitzinger on July 30, 1996, in Brush. They continued to make their homes between Colorado and Arizona. Survivors include his wife, Alice, of Brush; 3 sons, Les, and his wife Jeanette, of Bandon, OR, Richard, and his wife Jan, of Arlington, TX, and Jerry, and his wife Donna, of Antelope Springs, CO; 1 daughter, Nancy Kelly, and her husband Doug, of Brush; 1 sister, Joy Zollars, and her husband Gerald of Lamar, CO; one sister-in-law, Helen Funk of Denver; 12 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda, 1 brother, Kenneth, 1 grandson, Bradley Funk, and his parents. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at 10:30 AM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary on Tuesday from 2 – 6 PM. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the American Diabetes Association c/o Heer & Dahl Mortuary.
