Obituary

OTIS LEE JOHNSTON, 87, died early Wednesday morning, March 28, 2007 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. Johnston was born November 28, 1919 in Ringgold County, Iowa to Jake & Minnie (Carter) Johnston. He served in the US Army during WW II. He moved to Brush from Missouri in 1962. On April 10, 1964, he married Antonia (Romero) Tapia. Mr. Johnston was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush and the V.F.W Post 3551, Brush. He enjoyed working around the house, reading western books, fishing, traveling, and taking care of his pets. He worked for Boxer Feedlots for nearly 13 years before his retirement in 1981. Survivors include his wife Tonie Johnston of Brush; three step children, Mary Ellen Birch of Golden Valley, AZ, Rudy Tapia of Berkley, Massachusetts, and Ken Tapia of Brush; three sisters, Lola Adams of Windsor, Dorothy Huitt of Ridgedale, Missouri, and Emma Lane of Blythedale, Missouri; one brother, Elmer Johnston of Carlisle, Iowa, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Lloyd Johnston; and one sister, Alta Fullerton. A memorial services will be Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush with military honors by V.F.W. Post 3551. Services will conclude at the church. There has been cremation. Private Inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Johnston's name to the Heer Mortuary & Crematory, 222 Cameron Street, Brush.
