Ouida Dell (Fletcher) Simmons, 103, passed away on August 10, 2016 at Valley View Villa.
She was born to Bertran David & Eudora (King) Fletcher on June 15, 1913 in Denver, CO. She graduated from Atwood High School and married C.E. "Ted" Simmons on June 18, 1931. Her husband died on June 28, 1991 in Fort Morgan.
Ouida is survived by her daughter, Donna Hehn of Fort Collins; son, Rodney (Alberta) Simmons of Fort Morgan; nine grandchildren, Duane Bartlett of Missoula, MT, Renee (Dave) Gleason of Renton, WA, Teresa (Timothy) Mulcahy of Omaha, NE, Carolyn (John) Grisco of Westminster, CO, Janet Foster of Westminster, CO, Paul (Denise) Hehn of Severance, CO, Dan (Kathy) Hehn of Windsor, CO, Jeff (Sharon) Simmons of Omaha, NE, and Brenda (Kirby) Cabrera of Villa Ridge, MO, 19 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, 3 step great-great grandchildren, and 2 step great-great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted Simmons; son, Larry Simmons; daughter, Shirley Bartlett; sons-in-law, Charles Hehn and Dale Bartlett, 1 great grandchild, 1 step great grandchild, 1 great-great grandchild; her brother, David Fletcher of Springfield, IL; and her sister, Lucille Kuhnke of Fort Collins, CO.
Ouida loved her family. She was a homemaker and a dairy farmer. She loved making wedding and birthday cakes. She helped with crafts at the nursing homes and she crocheted baby caps for the hospital. She lived at the Bee Hive Assisted Living for 11 years and at Valley View Villa the last 3 years. She loved singing hymns and doing word search puzzles. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan where she was involved in church activities, singing in the choir and leading bible studies. She was also involved with the senior center.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 16th at 10:30 AM at the First Christian Church in Fort Morgan. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Bee Hive Assisted Living or the First Christian Church.
