Obituary

Pat Merrill, 48, former Fort Morgan City Manager, died Friday September 2, 2011. He was born September 4, 1962 in Lansing, MI to Paul and Judith Merrill. He married Chelle Warnars on July 5, 2003 on top of the Copper Peak ski jump in Ironwood, MI. Pat and his family moved to Ft. Morgan in November of 2007 to be the Director of Community Development for the City of Ft. Morgan, in August of 2008 he became the city manager. He was very dedicated to his work. He enjoyed hunting deer and elk, fly fishing, reading, following NASCAR and rooting for his favorite sport teams the Redwings and the Packers. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Chelle Merrill, and his son, Patrick James Merrill, both of Ft. Morgan, his stepson, Levi Manor, of Ironwood, MI; 1 sister Kelly Flores-New and her husband, Fernando, of London, England, one niece, Sydney of Australia, and his mother and step-father, Judith and Wayne Clinton, of Ocala, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Merrill. A memorial service will be held on Monday evening at 6:00 pm at the Saint Helena Catholic Church in Ft. Morgan. The service will conclude at the church. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to the Catholic charities, to the Diocese of Marquette, MI, or to the Diocese of Denver, or to the Make a Wish Foundation, in care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuaries, 225 E. Platte Ave., Ft. Morgan, CO 80701.
