Obituary

Patricia (Patty) Ann Washburn-Massa passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Valley View Villa at the age of 68, after an ongoing struggle with her health.

Patty was born July 15, 1947 in Greeley, CO to George and Vera Washburn. She was raised on a farm southwest of Wiggins, CO.  In the early sixties she moved to Fort Morgan, CO, where she met and married former husband Walter F. Hood.  After moving numerous times, she settled in Fort Bridger, WY, where she opened a bar/grill and gas station.  In 1996 she returned to Fort Morgan to be closer to family.  She worked in traffic control until 2012, when her health forced her to retire.   She enjoyed many years of hunting and other outdoor activities.  She loved spending time with family and friends. Patty was a very warm and compassionate person that knew no stranger.  She brought laughter and joy to everyone's life, and will truly be missed by many.

She is survived by her mother Vera L. Washburn (Bert Brown) of Log Lane Village; two children, Lana (David) Helms and Brett (Jayna) Hood; six siblings, Evelyn (Vernon) Cooksey, Shirli (Gordon) Timmons, Melvin (Betty) Washburn, Kay (Peter) Guerin, Bonnie (Terry) Reddick and Vernetta Washburn; six grandchildren, Vanessa Fryar, Jason Whiddon, Samantha Harmon, and Breanna, Holly, and Jarrit Hood; three great-grandchildren, and one in the basket, many nieces and nephews, as well as several close friends.

She was preceded in death by her father George Washburn, one brother Lyle G. Washburn, and one sister Verna Mae Washburn.
