Patricia Ann (Brubaker) Nelson, 88, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024.  She was born on February 14, 1936 to Noah Paul and Esther Brubaker in Hugoton, KS.  Her family moved from Kansas to California where they settled in Maywood, CA.   She graduated from Bell High School in 1954.  She met her husband Dale Nelson, at a USO dance.  They married on August 31, 1956 and moved to Colorado after Dale's discharge from the Marines.   Pat worked as a Personal Banker for Citicorp Financial until her retirement in 1990.

Pat was a California girl at heart and hated the Colorado winters.  She loved the spring and summer because of the sun and heat, but also seeing the new foals and calves in the fields, and flowers blooming in the garden.  She was an avid reader of mysteries and western novels, enjoyed collecting Native American and western art, watching the Professional Bull Riders tour, and followed the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos.  Pat was also an amazing horse show mom taking care of her kids, husband, and their horses, during the show season as well as volunteering her time with the Colorado Standard Quarter Horse Association, 4-H clubs, Rocky Mountain Paint Horse Association, Northeastern Colorado Paint Horse Association and the Buckskin Brigade.   She especially enjoyed her time with the Buckskin Brigade and the fellowship of the other women in the organization.

Pat is survived, and will be missed by, her sons Dennis (Susan) and Mike, daughter Kelly (Michael Salisbury), granddaughters Kaycee Gilman (Charlie) and Brynn Nelson (Josh Illig) and great grandchildren Molly, Max, and Quinn Gilman, Maddy and Leddy Illig, and sister Paula Ahrens.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Esther Brubaker, her husband Dale Nelson and great grandsons Paden and Coleman Gilman.

Visitation will be at Heer Mortuary in Brush on Wednesday March 27th at 12pm with a graveside service at Brush Cemetary at 1pm.
