Obituary

Patty Ruth Sams–Steele, 77, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012, at her home near Brush after a 25 year battle with breast cancer. She was born April 23, 1934, in Hudson, CO, to Lester & Millie Sams. Patty married Roger Steele in Denver on January 31, 1953. She worked with Roger pastoring several churches. They pastored the Chapel on the Plains in Stoneham from 1974 – 1979. The Steeles moved back to Denver and continued in pastoral ministry until retiring and moving back to Morgan County in 1994. Patty and Roger touched many lives through their ministry in many congregations as they pastored for many years. Many people will remember her with a smile and her generosity even in her final days. Patty loved working in her yard with her flowers and garden, caring for her chickens, selling eggs to friends, and embroidering. Her greatest love was her family. Survivors include her loving husband, Roger of Brush; her children, Larry, and his wife Diane Steele of Broomfield, CO, David, and his wife Becky Steele of Phoenix, AZ; Kenneth, and his wife Judy Steele of Greeley, CO; Kathy, and her husband Richard Stanley of Iliff, CO; Roger Steele of Sterling, and Karen, and her husband, Dale Weiderspon of Snyder, CO; her treasured grandchildren, Joshua, John, Marisa, Jonalee, Samantha, Jamie, Cassidy, Cameron, Carrie, Marcus, Angela, Calvin, Danielle, Dustie, Brandon, Breanne, Derek, and Luke; six great grandchildren, 1 devoted brother, Lester Sams and 1 loving sister, Mabel Jaden both of Henderson, CO. She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Betty Sams, and her parents. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, April 23, 2012, at 11:00 AM at The Sanctuary in Fort Morgan. The service will conclude at the church. Private inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Patty Steele Memorial Fund, with funds to be given to the Denver Rescue Mission and the Breast Cancer Association, in care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuary, 222 Cameron Street, Brush, CO 80723.
