Pauline Frances Hergenreter, 96, lifelong resident of Morgan and Logan Counties, passed away January 22, 2016 in Fort Morgan, Colorado.

She was born April 27, 1919 in Merino, Colorado to Fred and Opel Lechman.

She was 1 of 9 children. The Lechman family were Germans that immigrated to the United States from Russia. The family settled in Logan County and began farming in the area.

Pauline married Paul F. Hergenreter Sr. on January 9, 1940 in Sterling. They farmed and ranched in Sterling from 1940 until 1963. They then moved to Fort Morgan where they continued to farm and ranch until 1975.

Pauline then went to work for Valley View Villa for 19 years. She loved working there with the staff and residents. They called her "The Flower Lady". She would bring cut flowers every spring through fall to the residents.

Pauline loved tending her flower gardens, crafts, ceramics, baking, sewing, the Denver Broncos, and volunteering. She especially loved to cook for family and friends. Food was love to her. The more food, the more love. You could never get away with one helping, you had to have two or three and then have dessert.

Pauline was an active member of Saint Helena's Catholic Church serving with the Rosary and Altar Society.

They had 5 children, Beverly Staples (Jim, deceased) of Pell City, Alabama, Shirley Unrein (deceased), son-in-law Larry, Paul Hergenreter Jr. (deceased), daughter-in-law, Dee Hergenreter, Rich Hergenreter, of Fort Morgan, and Terry Behrends (Tony), of Fort Morgan. There are 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, with two great-great grandchildren on the way.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, one son, Paul Jr., one daughter, Shirley, and an infant grandson, Jeffery Unrein, and an infant great granddaughter, Hope Hergeneter, son-in-law Jim, 4 brothers, Joe John, Jack, and Fred Lechman, and 4 sisters, Katie Lechman, Ann Hradecky, Mabel Sewald, and Betty Hradecky.

There will be a viewing Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 3 until 6 pm followed by a rosary vigil that will start at 6:00 pm at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 10:00 am at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan.

Memorial Gifts may be made in Pauline's name in care of the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan. They will go mostly toward Catholic Mass Services.
