Obituary

Pearl Edith Holmes, 84, lifelong resident of Brush, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. Pearl was born in Brush on September 13, 1930 to Conrad & Anna (Hoffman) Leis. She graduated from Brush High School in 1948 and married Richard Holmes on October 16, 1949. Pearl worked at Westside Grocery for over 20 years and then at the Brush Locker for over 20 years before her retirement. Pearl was an avid bowler and she also enjoyed going gambling in Las Vegas as well as taking weekly trips to Blackhawk or Central City with her husband. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pearl is survived by her husband, Dick Holmes; and her son, Rick Holmes and his wife, Sharon, all of Brush; three grandchildren, James Holmes and his wife, Caron, Carol Butero and her husband, Wes, and Becci Meza and her husband, Vince; and six great grandchildren, Alexandra and Blake Holmes, Owen Butero, and Vinson, Molly, and Toby Meza. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Fred, Adolf, Herb, Harold, Dave, her twin, Paul, and Clarence Leis; and five sisters, Leah Mohrlang, Elvina Evans, Lydia Cook, Ruth Nuss, and an infant, Lydia Leis; and her daughter, Roberta "Bobbe" Holmes. A memorial service will be held at the Brush Memorial Cemetery Interment Chapel on Friday, February 13th at 2:00 PM. Inurnment will follow in the columbarium. Friends may make memorial donations to the Brush United Methodist Church, 1701 Edmunds St. or Immanuel Congregational Church, 209 Everett St., Brush, CO 80723.
