Philip Richard Busch, 87, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, at East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. Philip was born November 1, 1925 to Henry and Altaha (Whitmore) Busch in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Philip lived on the farm south of Wiggins all his life. He helped his father raise Hereford Cattle and did Dry-Land Farming of corn, beans, and wheat. Philip loved animals and raised pigs, rabbits, and ducks. He attended Wiggins School until 1944, when he was drafted into the Infantry of the U.S. Army and served in Germany. Philip earned the "Good Conduct Medal and European- African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal (with one bronze star)." He was issued a Medical Discharge in 1945, and the family moved back to Wiggins, after spending the war years in Denver, where his parents worked at Remington Arms War Plant. He was a member of the American Legion in Wiggins and the Fort Morgan VFW. He is survived by his sister Sylvia Weller of Wiggins, brother Norman Busch of Eben Ezer, nieces Debbie Horst of Fort Morgan, Donna Stroyek and son Brandon of Omaha, Nebraska, Joyce Tackabury of Wiggins, and nephews Doug Weller of Salina, Kansas, Ken Weller of Wiggins. He's preceded in death by his parents Henry & Altaha Busch, sister-in-law Lydia Busch, niece Doris Busch, and his Grand-parents John & Christina Busch. A graveside service will be held Friday July 26, 2013, at 10:00 AM at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow the service.
