Brush
Philip Lee Moya, 65, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at his home in Brush after an extended illness.
Philip was born in Denver on May 6, 1955 to Ruben & Ida (Rodriguez) Moya. He grew up in the metro area, where he attended area schools and graduated. Philip served in the Navy from 1973 until his honorable discharge in 1976. Phil worked as a Stationary Engineer at Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge for 20 plus years before he moved to Fort Morgan where he continued his work at Cargill until failing health forced him to retire three years ago.
Phil was an avid motorcyclist and he loved riding up to the mountains to enjoy the scenic view. He also liked to go fishing, and he was very into music and enjoyed playing the drums. He'll be remembered as a comical jokester, especially when teasing his grandchildren; whom he loved dearly. Another favorite past time of Phil's was playing an extra in films. He appeared in Under Siege 2 when filmed at Union Station and in 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain when filmed at Elitch Gardens.
He is survived by his mother, Ida Moya of Lakewood; his children, Sheila Moya of Fort Collins, Angela (David) Sampson of West Bloomfield, MI, Nathaniel Moya of Fort Morgan, and Brittney Moya (Jorge Hernandez) of Brush; his siblings, David (Laura) Moya of Lakewood, Judy (Sonny) Maddox of Golden, and James Moya of Evergreen; and 12 grandchildren, Jasmyn, Alexis Jr., Anthony, Jacob, Lorna, Isaac, Jordan, Abby, Emma, Nicholas, Nevaeh, and Destiny.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Moya Jr.; and his brother, Michael Moya.
