PHYLLIS "MYKE" GLASS, 79, longtime resident of Brush died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Medical Center of The Rockies in Loveland. She was born in Lodgepole, NE on September 17, 1929 to Marie (Wigington) and Walter Schoonover. She was an only child. Her family lived in many places while she was growing up including Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Colorado. Her father spent many summers working in Yellowstone Park and their home during those times was a tent with wood floors and a wood burning stove, where her mother taught her to be an excellent cook. She graduated from North Park High School in Walden, CO in 1948. She then moved to Glenwood Springs and was a telelphone operator. She met and married William Fleming in the early 1950's. During their marriage, his military service took them to England where her two children, Kristine and William were born. The couple later divorced. She met and married M/Sgt James C. Glass in Plattsburgh, NY on August 10, 1963. They had one son, James G. They lived in many places due to his military career including Plattsburgh, NY, Denver, Colorado Springs and Sacramento, CA. Upon his retirement from the military in 1971, they moved to Walden, CO. The family then moved to Brush in 1976 where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Her husband Jim passed away in 2000. She enjoyed painting, reading and spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid Bronco fan and adored her pets. She was an incredible cook and was known for her wonderful pies. She was a member of St Charles Episcopal Church in Fort Morgan. She cherished her family and friends and she will be missed by all that knew her. She is survived by her son, William Glass and his wife, Denise of Bond, CO, her daughter, Kristine Glass of Eagle, CO and her son James G Glass and his wife, Julie Jensen of Greeley, CO, two grandchildren, Sarah Glass of Bond, CO and Kaleb Glass of Grand Junction, CO and one stepsister, Sandy Fox, Libby, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents; two step brothers, Dennis Wigington and Jack Wigington; and her husband Jim Glass. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 15 at 10:30am at St. Charles Episcopal Church in Fort Morgan, CO. Burial will take place in Walden, CO on Thursday, October 16. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Charles Episcopal Church. The Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan is in charge of arrangements.
