Phyllis Maxine (Curry) Musgrave, 97, born to a homesteading family near Adena, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Valley View Villa. She was born May 17, 1920, in Fort Morgan, CO, to Guy and Florence (Maxwell) Curry.

Phyllis attended elementary and middle school at Sunnydale in northeastern Adams County. While attending high school in Fort Morgan, she stayed in town with her aunt and uncle, Charlie and Edna Edgar.  She was a member of the Fort Morgan High School graduating class of 1938.  Following her marriage to Loyd Musgrave on May 27, 1938, Phyllis and Loyd moved just west of Hoyt, Colorado, where he and Phyllis farmed until retirement.  While living at Hoyt she supported the family farming operation and was involved in the lives of her sons and later on in those of her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. In addition she was a faithful member of the Hoyt Sunday School and the Hoyt Home Circle Club through which she took a variety of extension courses  At various times she also was involved in the Wiggins PTA and the Toast Mistress organization. She was a 4-H leader and the Hoyt Fair was held several years at her home.  She also was a counselor at Highlands Presbyterian Camp near Allenspark, CO, while her sons were growing up. As a member of the Home Presbyterian Church she was a delegate at a national General Assembly.

Survivors include 2 sons, Jerard (Donna) of Elkhorn, Nebraska, and Larry (Charla) of Byers; 6 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.  Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20th, at 11:00 A.M. at the Wiggins Community Church.  Interment will follow at 1:30 PM at the Hoyt Cemetery.  Friends who wish to make memorial contributions may do so through the Heer Mortuary for the Hoyt Cemetery, the Wiggins Community Church, or Valley View Villa.
