Phyllis E. Schreiner, 85, longtime Brush resident, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016. She was born February 6, 1930, in Hamilton, KS, to Floyd & Evelyn Guffey.

Phyllis graduated from high school in Russell, KS. She worked in a restaurant for several years. She later moved to Brush. She married Richard L. Schreiner on July 3, 1965, in Brush. Prior to retirement Phyllis worked as a sales clerk at B & B Pharmacy. She later worked as a cook at the Drover's Restaurant and finally in the laundry department at Eben Ezer.

Phyllis was a member of the Immanuel Congregational Church. She enjoyed going to the Brush Senior Center and participating in many of their activities. She also enjoyed working in her garden, and decorating her home. Her favorite time was spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Velma Tapia, and her husband Ken of Brush; 1 sister, Frances Sparks of Oklahoma City, OK; 1 brother, Bob Guffey of Loveland, CO; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was very involved in helping to raise her grandson, Sean Warner. She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 son, Mike Warner; 1 sister, Florene Bliss; 1 brother, Sam Guffey, and her parents.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 10, at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Congregational Church. Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery Larkspur Columbarium. The Heer Mortuary & Crematory is entrusted with the arrangements.
