Placido J. Romero, a longtime resident of Brush, Colorado, passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 92.

Placido was born on July 22, 1933, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He later made his home in Brush, where he built a life centered on faith, family, and service to his community. On October 29, 1955, he married the love of his life, Juanita, in Brush. Together they shared a devoted marriage and a lifetime of memories.

Placido proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1955 as part of the 1st Infantry Division while stationed in Erlangen, Germany. Following his time in the military, Placido dedicated many years to hard work and his community. He worked for 32 years at Jack Boxer & Sons Feedlot, and was also employed at the Brush CO-OP. Later, he continued serving others through his work with the Brush School District as a janitor and at St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he worked in maintenance and custodial care. He was known for his reliability, dedication, and strong work ethic.

Placido was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and served on the Brush School Board, giving back to the community he cared so deeply about.

In his free time, Placido enjoyed staying active, especially walking and jogging. He appreciated simple daily routines and the outdoors.

Placido is survived by his wife, Juanita; his children, Edward (Deborah), Michael (Ginger), Steven (Gina), and Julie (Jesse); daughter in law, Cindy; grandchildren, Cody, Adam, Michele, Ashley, Elaina, Kyle, Alec, Chris, Vincent, Dominic and Joshua; 17 great-grandchildren; and his siblings; Steve, Ray, Helen, Danny, and Mary Lou. He is preceded in death by his son, Beba, and siblings, Rosie and Anthony.

Placido will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet strength, and lifelong commitment to his family, faith, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Service will be held for Placido at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, in Brush, on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 10:30 AM, followed by inurnment at Brush Memorial Cemetery.
