Rachel Sagel, 94, longtime area resident, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Fort Morgan. She was born June 21, 1922 in Snyder, to Karl and Maria (Weimer) Becker.

Rachel's family moved from Bayard, Nebraska to Morgan County when she was fourteen years old. She married Dave D. Sagel on February 16, 1941 and they farmed Southwest of Fort Morgan until Dave retired in 1976.

Rachel was an active member of the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan; she loved and served her Lord for her lifetime.

Rachel devoted much of her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a long time nurse's aid at the Hospital and at the Fort Morgan Medical Group, later she became a member of the Hospital Auxiliary.

Rachel enjoyed feeding squirrels, and working with ceramics, but mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her children, David D. Sagel of Broomfield, and Judy Miller of Fort Morgan, five grandchildren, Kathy Hertneky (David) of Burlington, Bill Albert (Libbi) and David A. Sagel (Pam) of Westminster, Lainie Columbia (Aaron) of Wiggins, and Anna Elrick (Ryan) of Fort Morgan, eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave, her parents and her brothers, Gottfried Becker, Carl Becker, Dave Becker, and Harold "Dick" Becker, her sisters, Marie Gies, Pauline Ostermiller, Anna Rein, Esther (Ruppel) Schultz, and Lydia "Betty" Martin.

Memorial Services will be Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Memory Gardens.
