Ramona Jaurigui, 89, longtime area resident, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Ft. Morgan. Ramona was born March 22, 1924 to Santiago and Regina (SanMiguel) Solis. She married Jose Jaurigui on September 1, 1941 in Monterey, Mexico. Ramona was a member of the Spanish Assembly of God Church in Ft. Morgan. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and listening to music. She loved to cook, and in her earlier years, had worked at several local restaurants. Ramona was always the person who made the food for weddings, family get togethers, and other special occasions. She loved her children and grandchildren and they were very important to her. Survivors include five daughters, Mary Ocanas of Ft. Morgan, Regina Mecillas of Mesa, AZ, Jane Krewson of Omaha, NE, Doreen Padilla of Denver, and Margaret Sandoval of Ft. Morgan; four sons, Santos Jaurigui of Lakewood, Joe Jaurigui of Ft. Morgan, Santiago Jaurigui of Ft. Morgan, and Juan Jaurigui of Grand Junction, 23 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and, 2 great-great grandchildren. Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, Jose, one daughter, Maria Carmen Jaurigui, two grandsons, Louie and Patrick Jaurigui, one granddaughter, Ramona Mecillas, one sister, three brothers, and her parents. There will be a visitation Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 4 until 6 pm at the Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Funeral Services will be Monday, May 6, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Spanish Assembly of God Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Ft. Morgan. Memorial gifts may be given in Ramona's name in care of the Heer Mortuary. The Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
