Obituary

Randall (Randy) Leroy Schilling, 73, life-long resident of Morgan County, passed away peacefully after  complications from a brain tumor on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Sterling Health and Rehab Center,  with family by his side. He was born on September 2, 1950, in Brush to Ralph and Donna Schilling. Randy graduated from Brush High School in 1968. He married Deb Simon in June of 1974. Then in Oct 1979, he married Leslie Price and had two children, Rory and Roman.

Randy worked in many professions throughout his lifetime including general contract work from 1968 to 1986 alongside his father, Ralph, building many homes around the Brush and Fort Morgan area. He was  also a youth correctional officer for many years at High-Plains Youth Correctional Facility, spent time working for Todd Simon at WFI, and his last job was a heavy equipment operator for Western Sugar. Randy enjoyed many things in his life such as fishing, watching NASCAR races, the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. Randy was well liked by all. He loved to talk about his good ole days, he always had a story to tell and would talk for hours if you had the time. There was nothing he didn't know about NASCAR and he knew every John Wayne movie by heart, front to back. He loved to watch old westerns  and most recently he found a TV channel that replayed Hee Haw. He had endless fishing stories to tell.  Including one where a fish stole his fishing pole and a friend from Western Sugar later caught that fishing pole. The fishing pole was returned only to be later stolen out of the back of his truck. He loved nothing more than a road trip with a friend or fishing with his boys. Whether it be a lake or stream in the mountains or reservoir or pond on the plains as long as the bait was fresh and the lines were tight. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandson. Robbie was his pride and joy. He loved to show pictures of Robbie on his phone and tell all the funny stories about what Robbie had been doing to anyone who would listen.

Survivors include his two children, Rory (Sueann) Schilling of Hillrose, and Roman (Cassie) Schilling of Fairbanks, AK; brother, Ronald (Linda) Schilling of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Janine (Dave) Pollo of Douglas, WY; grandson, Robbie Schilling of Hillrose; brother-in-law, Bill Hernandez of Brush; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Donna; infant granddaughter, Nevaeh Schilling; sister, Diana Hernandez; brother-in-law Don Campbell; nephew, Shaun Campbell; his grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
