Randolph J (Randy) Ewertz, lifelong member of the Wiggins and Hoyt communities died at his home on April 6, 2024 at the age of 65 after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on May 9, 1958 in Greeley, Colorado to Arthur and Norma Ewertz, and attended Wiggins schools graduating from high school in 1976. In high school he was active in FFA and he participated in wrestling, winning 5th place at State his senior year.

He married Judy Cunning on March 6, 1983 and her children, Lee, Shannon, Michelle and Dana were welcomed into the family.  Randy always felt that he was born to be a farmer, and farming was his lifelong passion.  He started farming in partnership with his brother Joe in 1983.  He loved going for drives and checking the fields. Wheat harvest was his favorite time of the year. Randy loved going to auctions and was proud of his toy tractor collection. He also collected antique tractors and equipment. He enjoyed going to Black Hawk. One of his favorite sayings was "as long as you are having fun."  Randy was a devoted husband, son, brother and uncle, and was always there when they needed him.

Mourning his passing are his wife, Judy Ewertz, mother Norma Ewertz, sister Rita Farahmandifard, brothers, Wayne (Sandy) Ewertz and Joe (Kim) Ewertz; his step children, Lee (Pam) Cunning, Shannon (Mark) Gefroh, Michelle (Scott) Chesebro and Dana (Andy) Lord, twelve step grandchildren and his sisters-in-law, Jean Shor MD (Larry Shor MD) and Elizabeth Olsen.  He will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews, Jamie (Brandon) Atkin, Kyle (Tayler) Ewertz, Tanner (Shania) Ewertz, Leah (Pat) Moorhead, Brandon Ewertz, Matthew (Julia) Ewertz and Lexi Ewertz, his eight great nieces and nephews, and dear friend Derek Windsheimer and his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur, his grandparents, and his brothers-in-law Majeed Farahmandifard and Axel Olsen.

Services for Randy will be on Wednesday, April 17 at St. Helena Catholic Church with the recitation of the Rosary at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial Mass at 11 a.m.
