Ray Alvin Hansen passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was 72 years old.
Ray was born on Sept 27, 1951, in Akron, Colorado at the family farm, to Carl and Mabel (Leechman) Hansen. Ray was the 3rd youngest of his siblings: Grace, Walter, Fred, Diamond, Ray, Henry, Bonnie. He grew up in Akron and graduated from Akron High School.
Ray met the love of his life, Linda (Stieb), while attending school in Akron. They were married in Akron, Colorado on July 13, 1969. To this union they raised 3 wonderful children: a son, Richard and two daughters, Jennifer and Michelle.
Ray started his careers at Hall Grain (in Akron, CO), Pepsi Cola as a soft drink route salesperson, Allison Drilling as an Oil and Gas Well Driller, JW Gibson Drilling as an Oil and Gas Well Driller (where he was injured while working and sustained many injuries). He then continued to further his education by attending classes at Morgan Community College and Graduated with an Associates of Applied Science in Electronics Technology in May 1990. He then continued to work jobs throughout Morgan County.
Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering with electronics, while he continued loving his ever-growing family. He was the definition of Grandpa - expert advice giver, family historian, hard-hearer, story teller.
Ray is survived by his wife Linda; son Richard of Hillrose; two daughters, Jennifer (Domingo) of Akron and Michelle (Sean) Kelly of Brush; two sisters, Grace (Gary) Hill and Bonnie Waite Cook; nine grandchildren, Michael (Leah) Hansen, Brittany Rodriquez, Sam Hansen, Kanisha Rodriquez, Makyle Mares, Sara (Chris) Ocanas, Tyler (Iris) Mathies, Kaitlyn Hansen and Mazie Kelly; and many great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and one great grandchild.
Remembrance of life will be celebrated on June 18, 2023 at the Akron Swimming Pool Park at noon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ray's name to Hospice of the Plains, 100 Broadway St #1-A, Sterling, Colorado 80751.
