Raymond S. Sietsema, 99, longtime area resident, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Ft. Morgan. He was born June 22, 1911 in Iowa to Herman and Emma (Ludeman) Sietsema. Raymond met his first wife, Maisie Stirling, while he was stationed overseas during WWII. They were married on June 1, 1944 in Edinburgh, Scotland. She died of cancer in May of 1966. In August of 1969 Raymond married Gwenith Blaalid in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Raymond was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. He was a member of Rotary Club, the American Legion, and a Water Conditioning Service Association. He was also the "Culligan Man", and owned the Culligan Soft Water Service in Ft. Morgan. Raymond enjoyed traveling and reading. Survivors include his wife, Gwenith of Ft. Morgan, three step-children, Michael McCordic of Bethesda, Maryland, Jacqueline Gallagher of Delmar, Delaware, and Robert McCordic of Linthicum Heights, Maryland, two sisters, Evelyn Applewick of Sun City West, Arizona and Margaret McCommon of Santa Cruz, California. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be a visitation on Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 5 until 8 pm at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Memorial Services will be Friday, January 21, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the United Presbyterian Church in Ft. Morgan. Services will conclude at the church. Inurnment will follow in the United Presbyterian Church Columbarium at a later date. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
