Raymond D. Townsend, 96, former Fort Morgan resident, passed away early Wednesday morning at the Bonell Good Samaritan Center in Greeley. He was born March 3, 1910, in Cambridge, NE, to Joseph & Amelia Townsend. On January 31, 1942, Raymond married Doris Lemmons in Fort Morgan. They farmed in the Willard and Stoneham communities after their marriage. In 1952 the Townsend family moved to Fort Morgan. Raymond worked as a custodian at Green Acres School for many years. He also worked as an auctioneer. He enjoyed working in his garden and his yard. Survivors include two daughters, Lee Ann Parada of Denver, CO and Joy Nusca of Greeley, CO; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, 1 sister, 3 brothers, and his parents Funeral services will be at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Fort Morgan on Friday at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
