Ricardo Mendez - Alfaro, 14, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013, at Children's Hospital in Aurora, CO. Ricardo had been diagnosed with cancer in February, 2013. He was born January 25, 1999, in Greeley, CO to Jorge & Marta Mendez. Ricardo has lived most of his life in the Wiggins community. At the time of his death he was a freshman at Wiggins High School. He loved all kinds of sports. His favorite passion was playing baseball and football. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Wiggins and was very active, having served as an altar server for over 6 years. Survivors include his Mother, Marta Mendez and his siblings, Corazon, Jacquelin, and Jorge Luis all of Wiggins; his maternal grandparents, Roqua & Anita Alfaro of Mexico; and a host for other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his Father, Jorge Mendez. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Wiggins on Thursday, November 14. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan on Tuesday from 4 - 6 PM.
