On July 1, 2022, Ricardo Segura loving son, brother, uncle and great uncle passed away at the age of 71. Ricardo passed away at home after a long illness surrounded by family who loved him dearly.
Ricardo was born June 28, 1951 to Raymond C. and Pomposa (Vasquez) Segura in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Ricardo graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1969. After high school he attended Morgan Community College and in 1973 graduated with an Associates of Applied Science. He continued his education at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Ricardo started his career with Union Pacific Railroad Company on May 29, 1978. He worked there until his retirement in 2008.
Ricardo was a member of Saint Helena Catholic Church and a member of the Fort Morgan Knights of Columbus, Council 2742. He enjoyed traveling to Canada, Alaska and Mexico. He loved the outdoors; loved the mountains; he was an avid fisherman; he loved to teach his nephews and nieces how to fish; he was a master at a barbeque. He most loved spending time with his family. Ricardo purchased his first vehicle at the age of 15, a 1929 Ford Model A that he restored to its original state. He loved taking his parents and family for rides in his Model A. For many years Ricardo was a wonderful caregiver for his parents. Ricardo enjoyed attending Colorado Rockies games with his father. He was a proud supporter of his nephews and nieces sporting events, dance recitals and concerts.
Ricardo is survived by his mother Pomposa; his sisters Lydia Gonzalez of Sioux City, IA, Suelma (Dave) Temple of Fort Morgan, CO, Elena Vincente of Fort Morgan, CO, Amelia De Leon of Houston, TX and his brother Rogelio (Anna) Segura of Fort Morgan, CO and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Segura and his brother Raymond Segura Jr.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 from 9-10 AM at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan with recitation of The Holy Rosary beginning at 10:00 AM with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
