Richard
Madsen
Jul 16, 1939 — Jul 6, 2024
Fort Morgan
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard
(Rich) Glenn Madsen, who left us on July 6, 2024, at the age of
84. Rich was born on July 16, 1939, in Jamestown, North Dakota
to Lillian (Roth) and Carsten Madsen and grew up with his
brothers Robert (Bob) and James (Jim) on the family farm.
Rich graduated from Jamestown High School in 1957 and
attended North Dakota State University, where he earned his
bachelor's degree in mathematics. He continued his studies and
received a master's degree in education from Moorhead State
University.
At North Dakota State, Rich met the love of his life, and in June
1961, he married Linda Lee Tomlin. Together, they began their
life journey and had 2 children, Mark and Sherrie.
Rich embarked on a fulfilling career in teaching and coaching in
Mapleton, North Dakota, and continued with the Mustangs in Fort
Morgan until 1980. He then transitioned to a successful career as
an insurance agent with State Farm, where he made a lasting
impact for over 40 years.
Rich enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, and golf. He
loved creating memories with his family and friends, but his
greatest joy came from being the biggest cheerleader for his
grandchildren's various activities.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife Linda, their children Mark
(Lorrie) of Naperville, Illinois, and Sherrie Hunter (Drake) of Fort
Morgan, Colorado. His grandchildren Joshua (Crystal) Hunter,
Jeremiah (Kathleen) Hunter, Lee-Anne Madsen, and Tyler Madsen
and great-granddaughter Lillian Hunter, with one more on the way.
He is also survived by Linda's sister, Sharon (James) Powers, and
Angela Madsen and many nieces and nephews.
Richard is predeceased by his parents, Linda's parents, and his
Brothers.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests donations to the
Alzheimer's Associations or Glioblastoma Foundation.
A memorial service to honor Richard's life will be held on
Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. at The United Methodist
Church in Fort Morgan, CO. A luncheon will follow the service.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to the staff at Eben Ezer
Lutheran Care Center (Khris and Crystal) for their extraordinary
care and kindness in Rich's final days.
