Richard Lee Mullins, 71, passed away September 18, 2019, at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Brush from heart failure.  He was born April 18, 1948, in Montrose, CO to John Robert & Norma Roberts.

Dicks older brother, Bob, who is 2 years, 2 months and 2 days older all moved to Grand Junction, CO for 2 years.  Dicks dad, John, received an offer to return to Hawaii to work for the government.  The entire family lived there for 2 years before returning to the continental USA moving to Wichita, KS.  While living in Wichita, little sister Marcia was born August 6, 1952.  After Wichita, the family moved to Oklahoma City where John worked on the B-52 radar system which was located in the nose of the aircraft.

In 1960 the family moved to Aurora, CO so John could work on the Titan ICBM program.  Bob & Eddy Klanecky were Bob & Dicks first friends in Colorado.  All four boys later becam gymnasts and teammates on the Aurora High School gymnastics team.  Later on, Dick, Eddy, Ray Corn, Bob Popp and others were teammates on the University of Northern Colorado gymnastics team.  While attending UNC, Dick earned his bachelors degree in psychology and social studies.  Two years after graduating Dick joined the US Army.  He was assigned to the 566 ^th Medical Detachment in Landtuhl.  Dick was a case worker at the largest US Army hospital in Europe.  He was honorably discharged in 1976.  While serving the Army, Dick earned his masters degree from Ball State University.

On August 3, 1970, Dicks dad & his new bride, Marilyn Kennedy, became the proud parents of Johnny & Jeanna Mullins.  The twins were born in Houston, TX but currently reside in Oswatomie, KS, where they both graduated from high school and college.

Following his honorable discharge, Dick returned to Greeley and competed his doctorate degree in Bio-Feedback Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado and is one of 2,200 licensed Bio-Feedback counselors in the USA.  He worked at Creighton University Medical School teaching medical doctors how to incorporated medicine with biofeedback.  He later worked at Mayo Clinic for a short time.

Due to substance abuse, Dick was unemployed for a period, later getting a job as an education counselor at Fort Carson, CO.  He later ended up in Sterling where he was placed with Logan County Social Services, eventually living in nursing home care facilities.

Dick never met a person that he wouldn't talk time to have a beer with, listen to what they had to say and offer advice if needed.  Dick was a sympathetic ear for one and all.

Dick, you will be missed by friends and family:  Bob Mullins, Marcia Sloan, Johnny, Mullins, Jeanna Mullins, Max McElligot, Camilla McElligott, John McElligot, Joshlyn McElligot, Bill McElligto, Tennie McElligot and Patrick Sloan.

Military graveside services by the US Army Honor Guard and the Associated Veterans Honor Guard will be Friday, October 25, 2019, at 2:15 PM at Staging Area "C" at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
