Obituary

RICHARD UHRICK, 76, of Fort Morgan, died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora. He was born in Fort Morgan on December 23, 1936 to George & Lydia Uhrick. As a young boy, Richard became very active in 4-H, thus beginning his love and passion for farming. He served in the Military and lived in Germany for a number of years before returning to Fort Morgan where he farmed. Richard married Elfriede Hayer in Wiesbaden, Germany on May 18, 1968. Richard was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2551. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and taking care of his friends. He was looking forward to an upcoming trip to Alaska where he and a friend planned on gold mining. Richard is survived by his three daughters; Patricia Carver of Harker Heights, TX, and Lydia Veit and Sigrid Saricicek, both of Germany; three brothers, Ron Uhrick of Wiggins, Sam Uhrick of Fort Morgan, and Edward Uhrick of Arizona; six grandchildren, Vanessa Veit, Rebecca Carver, Salina Veit, Kevin Carver, Jasmin Saricicek, and Benjamin Saricicek; four great grandchildren, Anthony Carver, Samuel Veit, Anecia Presley, and Emily Veit. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, including Alvina Schrum, who give Richard great care and friendship. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Patricia Thyne; and his wife, Elfriede Uhrick. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 29th from 4 - 7 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 30th at Christ Congregational Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan.
