Rick
Nab
Aug 14, 1956 — Feb 17, 2021
Richard "Rick" Eugene Nab, 64, life resident of Morgan County, passed away suddenly at his home on February 17, 2021. He was born in Brush on August 14, 1956, to Albert & Mary Nab.
Rick graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1974. After finishing school, he began working for Century Housing. He then moved on to a job with Top Door, installing garage doors for customers all around Colorado. He spent numerous years with the company, before moving on to work for Morgan County Government. Well-respected amongst his peers, he became the maintenance supervisor for the County, a position which he held until his retirement in 2019. In his earlier adult years, Rick was an avid bowler and softball player, frequently playing in leagues with his friends. Some of his favorite hobbies in life included woodworking, watching baseball games, spending time with his family, helping out at the local food bank, and proudly displaying a vast array of wolf & eagle figures and collectibles around his house. He especially liked to get together with his friends for a weekly cribbage game.
Rick married Karen (Hulkovich) Nab in 1985. They had one child together, Ryan, born the same year. He also became the stepfather of Karen's son, Kevin, whom she had from a previous marriage. Things don't always work out, and they divorced in 1996. In 1997, Rick married Jennifer (Krien) Nab. They were married for 6 years, before divorcing in 2003. Rick never remarried.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Nab; his sister-in-law, Jacqueline Nab; and his stepson, Kevin Hulkovich.
Survivors include his son, Ryan Nab of Fort Morgan, CO; his mother, Mary (Don) Madsen of Strasburg, CO; 3 sisters, Mary Ann (Greg) Singhisen of Strasburg, CO; Theresa (Alex) Middlemist of Byers, CO; Brenda (John) Yancey of Madrid, NE; 2 brothers, James Nab of Monument, CO, and Daniel (Kelly) Nab of Aurora, CO; a granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rick had an infectious smile and personality, which was evident from the moment anyone first met him. He was easy to talk to, easier to laugh with, and loved those closest to him dearly. He was always there to lend a hand or an ear or to be silly and make you laugh. He'd been known to frequently pick up dinner tabs in secret or to help pay a loved one's bills in their times of need. He gave to others before ever taking for himself. That is his legacy. He was loved by many, and will be sorely missed.
A memorial scripture service will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
