Robert "Bob"
Allen
Oct 28, 1942 — Feb 21, 2017
Robert "Bob" Allen, 74 of Arvada, CO passed away February 21, 2017 at Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, CO. He was born October 28, 1942 in Colby, KS to Dale and Violet (Wilson) Allen.
Bob moved to Fort Morgan with his family during his elementary school years. He graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1961. He attended UNC in Greeley for two years. He also enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Taiwan for 3 ½ years, and was honorably discharged, before returning to the United States. He spent his working years as a luggage handler for Delta Airlines in California, Utah, and eventually at DIA, when he returned to Colorado.
Bob was always a very loving and giving man, always bearing gifts for his family, when they got together. He had a hobby of finding sales and closeouts at stores, where he would purchase, TV's, CD players, tents, books, and anything you could think of and then give them to his family. In his later years he moved in with his father and the two of them took care of each other and their cat Abby. As long as they could, they took walks together and trips to Blackhawk and Central City to do a little gambling. Bob was an avid reader and lover of books. He enjoyed gardening, learning about war history, feeding the birds and squirrels, as his father always did, and couldn't imagine a day without coffee. Bob always liked a good joke and had a wonderful laugh. Bob will always be remembered for his caring, giving, generous heart, his quick wit, and positive outlook on life.
He is survived by one sister, Deanna Maroney (Ken) of Fountain, CO; one brother-in-law, Gene Kautz of Hillrose, and five nieces, Sherry Ruder (Joe) of Fort Morgan, Jackie Hill (Gab) of Kirk, CO, Julie August (Roger) of Pagosa Springs, CO, Tracy Rollins of Fountain, CO, and Cathy Pyle-Trulson (Randy) of MO. He is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Kautz, one nephew, Marty Kautz, one great-nephew, Nicholas Ruder and his parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
