Robert Allen "Bob" Carter, 82, went home to be with his Lord on May 16, 2026, at his home in Brush, Colorado. Bob was born December 30, 1943, in rural Hardin County, Iowa, to Raymond and Laurina (Tessendorf) Carter, the fifth of six children raised on the family farm.

Bob attended several country schools and graduated from Albia High School in 1962, where he was an All-Conference football player. In 1963, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served as a Radarman until 1967. That same year, he married Sherry (Parker), and the couple made their first home in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Their daughter, Teresa, was born in 1968.

In 1969, Bob and Sherry moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where Bob began his lifelong career as an electrician. He became a master electrician and owned and operated FSC Electric until his retirement in 2012. While in Steamboat, the family grew to include two sons, Ken and Ben. Bob served faithfully for many years at the First Baptist Church of Steamboat, always willing to help wherever he was needed.

From 1981 to 1989, the family lived in Trenton, Missouri, to be closer to their Iowa relatives and to work a small farm of their own. During those years, they formed many cherished, lifelong friendships, and their daughter met her future husband, Shannon. The Lord later led them back to Steamboat, where Bob continued to enjoy the mountains-hunting, fishing, and exploring the beautiful country he loved. In 2025, Bob and Sherry moved to Brush to be nearer to family.

Bob treasured his family and thanked the Lord for each one. He especially loved elk hunting in the Colorado mountains and spent many years enjoying "elk camp" up Service Creek with friends and family. Though he loved hunting, fishing was his greatest passion. He made annual trips to Lake Athapapuskow in Canada with various friends and family members, delighted in "brookie" fishing mountain streams, and enjoyed ice fishing throughout the winter months.

Bob's faith was the steady center of his life. He served in Gideons International beginning in 1978 and was blessed with opportunities to travel to Burkina Faso, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Kenya to distribute Scriptures-an act of service he dearly loved.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Laurina Carter; his sister, Mona; and his brothers, Loren and Gaylor. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; daughter Teresa (Shannon) Munday; sons Ken (Tammy) Carter and Ben (Lisa) Carter; as well as his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tyler and Mackenzie (Wendi), Thayne, Cherith and Matt Young (James and Eden), Cheyenne and Logan Mckerley (Blaze, Kenleigh, Ellie), Naomi and Andrew Adams (Joseph), Abigail, Braiden, and Grant. He is also survived by his brothers, Larry (Beth) Carter of Lusby, MD and Lawrence (Norma) Carter of Pella, IA. Bob loved his family deeply and praised the Lord for them daily.

A Viewing will be held at Platte Valley Baptist Church, Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 AM.
