Robert Eugene Chavez, 69, lifetime Colorado resident, moved to Brush in 1980. He passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016 in the arms of his wife, Cathy Chavez.   He was born July 28, 1946 in Denver, CO to Bennie and Mary (Valverde) Chavez.

Bobby graduated from Manual High School in 1964. He married the love of his life, Cathy Prangley on December 28, 1973 in Denver. They've been married 45 years. Bobby was a family man, he loved being with his family and friends.

His passion was music, playing his guitar. He was a self-taught guitarist. Bobby played in many bands and even had his own band in Denver. He performed many gigs throughout Denver and Northeast Colorado. Bobby was also in the 1994 movie Dumb and Dumber, playing his guitar and singing Mocking Bird. He played as good as Carlos Santana which was one of his favorite artists. He loved jamming out and singing with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. Bobby was the life of the party, he filled everyone's life with happiness, joy, and laughter to all, even complete strangers! He also enjoyed singing and playing pool. Bobby defiantly made his mark on this World.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy; three daughters, Christy, Cheri, and Heidi Chavez, all of Brush; four granddaughters, Sophie Chavez, Annaliah Luevano, Alexis and Ashley Aguayo; three grandsons, Robert Chavez, Rudy Jr. and Issac Barreras, all of Brush; sister Mary Gonzales; two brothers, John and Scott Chavez, all in Denver; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tony Chavez, and his daughter, Donna Chavez.

Funeral service will be held at Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush Thursday, May 26, at 2:00PM. Upon the family's request, they are asking that instead of flowers please make donations to the family for the funeral expenses or donate to Cancer Society in honor of Bobby Chavez.
