Obituary

Today we honor and remember the life of Bob Compton—a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, veteran, and servant whose life was defined by faithfulness, hard work, kindness, and an unwavering willingness to help others.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, United States Army, and the Colorado Army National Guard, carrying forward a deep family tradition of military service that he treasured throughout his life. He believed service was not just something you wore in uniform—it was a way of living every day.

Raised in Brush, Colorado, Bob loved family gatherings, stories of history, homemade ice cream, and the simple joy of spending time with those he loved. He earned a history degree from Trinidad State College and built a life marked by dedication and perseverance. Whether working in the mountains, running his landscaping business, driving for County Express to serve elderly residents, helping his cousin Nancy through difficult times, or lending a hand to neighbors at Taber Apartments, Bob never hesitated to put others before himself.

Those who knew Bob knew they could always count on him. He was the person who would shovel a sidewalk without being asked, repair what was broken, cook for a crowd, volunteer wherever he was needed, and quietly serve without expecting recognition. His generosity, humility, and willingness to help became his trademark.

Bob leaves behind a legacy of military service, community service, compassion, and hard work that will continue to inspire everyone whose life he touched. While our hearts are saddened by his passing, we are grateful for the countless memories, friendships, and acts of kindness that will never be forgotten.

Thank you, Bob, for your service to our nation, your love for your family, your support of your community, and for showing us what it means to live a life of purpose.

Rest in peace, Bob Compton.
