Obituary

Robert Lawrence Cooper, 92, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. Robert was born March 24, 1916 in Atchison, Kansas to Eli and Geneva (Siever) Cooper. After high school, he attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY. Following his junior year at West Point, he contracted tuberculosis, for which he was transferred to Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver for treatment. After his recovery, he enrolled at Denver University where he completed a degree in accounting. He met Nancy Reid, daughter of Lawrence and Gladys Reid of Fort Morgan, while in Denver and they were married on April 18, 1948 in Brush, Colorado. Robert was a Certified Public Accountant, and after marriage Nancy and he settled in Fort Morgan where they maintained an accounting practice for over 50 years. He was a longtime member of the Ft. Morgan Rotary Club. He enjoyed golfing, bird hunting, fishing and was a private pilot in a local aviation club. Survivors include three sons, Dr. Robert "Robin" Cooper of Spokane, Washington, Gary Cooper of Dallas, Texas and David Cooper of McCall, Idaho and three grandchildren, Andrew, Haley and Catherine Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents,his wife Nancy and his brother, Edmond Cooper. There will be a private family gathering where he will be inurned with his wife Nancy in the Serenity Falls Columbarium in Ft. Morgan. Memorial Gifts may be made to the Fort Morgan Rotary Club. The Heer Mortuary and Crematory in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the cremation arrangements.
