Robert "Bob" G. Meyer, passed away suddenly at the emergency room at Colorado Plains Medical Center on Thursday, November 26, 2015, one day after his 90th birthday, with his wife, daughter and great grandsons Maverick and Matlock Hunter at his side. Bob was born on Thanksgiving day, November 25, 1925, in Sheboygan, WI to George & Anna Geist Meyer, and entered eternal life on Thanksgiving Day 2015.

The Meyer family moved to Morgan County when Bob was a young child. He entered the US Army on June 20, 1945, and was honorably discharged on November 26, 1946. On October 29, 1950, Bob married Elaine Betzold in Fort Morgan.

Bob worked for the Colorado Department of Revenue as a driver's license officer for 31 years. He was named by Gov. Roy Romer as Colorado Employee of the Month in November, 1987. Another honor Bob was very proud of was when he received his high school diploma, as a part of Operation Recognition for WW II Veterans from Brush High School. He was an active member of the Immanuel Evangelical Church, serving as treasurer of the church building fund and the church memorial fund, and sang in the choir, men's quartet and the mixed quartet. He was a life member of DAV, and VFW #2551, a member of the American Legion, member and former board member of the Sundowner's Lions Club, a member of the Colorado Association of Public Employees, and the FFA Alumni at Fort Morgan High School. His hobbies were golfing and gardening, hunting arrowheads, and watching sports, especially the Denver Broncos. His favorite time was spent helping his grandsons.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Elaine, 1 daughter, Cheryl Rouse; 2 grandsons, Matt (Megan) Hunter and Derrick (Nicky) Hunter; great grandchildren, Andy Bain, Caity Bain, Jackson Hunter, Maverick and Matlock Hunter; and great -great granddaughters Edrea and Stella, all of Fort Morgan. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Alex and Gus; 7 sisters, Lydia, Mollie, Mary, Nellie, Esther, Hannah, and Susie; his son-in-law Tim Rouse; and his parents.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 3, 2015, at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Evangelical Church. Interment with military honors will follow in Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday from 5 – 7 PM. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Immanuel Evangelical Church.
