Robert D. "Bob" Gilbert, 78, passed away at the Lincoln Community Hospital in Hugo, CO following a short illness.  He was born June 29, 1941, in Climax, CO to Harry & Beulah Gilbert.

Bob graduated from Woodrow High School.   He worked on the family farm following graduation.  In 1963 he joined the US Army.  Following his honorable discharge in 1969 , Bob returned to the family farm.  Bob loved working with cattle.

Bob married Melva Vernie in 1996.  They continued to live on the family ranch west of Last Chance and in Limon.

Survivors include his wife, Melva of Limon; 3 children, Amy Hampton, Anita Grover and Greg Vernie; 1 brother, Ronald Gilbert; 2 sisters, Marjorie Quint and Theresa Rhodes;  3 grandchildren and  several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 1 nephew.

Graveside service with social distancing will be Monday, April 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Brush Memorial Cemetery Interment Chapel.
