Obituary

Robert "Bob" Holzworth, 66, life resident of Morgan County passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born November 25, 1944, in Snyder, to Vern & Viola Holzworth. Bob graduated from Snyder High School in 1962. He served in the US Army from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1967. On December 27, 1970, Bob married Charlene Houston in Snyder. Bob worked as a machinist at C & C Auto Parts for 22 years. He later started his own carpentry business which he continued working at until his death. Bob was a "fixer" and he enjoyed working on many different projects. Bob served as a volunteer on the Snyder/Hillrose Fire Department, having served for 30 years. He served in several offices including chief of this agency. An avid reader, Bob loved to learn about as many things as he possibly could. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and visiting with friends. He was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Charlene; 1 sister, Shirley Johnson of Fort Morgan and 1 brother, Bernard Holzworth of Sterling, CO; 7 nieces & nephews (who were like his children), including Peggy Florian, Wes Johnson, Lynelle Johnson Camp, Lori Acton, Jennifer Hayes, Brenda Holzworth and Brian Holzworth. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM. The service will conclude at the church with military and fire fighter services. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Hillrose/Snyder Fire Department, EMCH Foundation, or Bethlehem Lutheran Church all c/o the Heer & Dahl Mortuaries & Crematory.
