Robert J. Cox, 87, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at his home, following a lengthy illness. He and his twin sister, Roberta, were born October 31, 1929, in Brush to Joseph I. & Hilda M. Cox.

Bob graduated from Hillrose High School in 1947. On November 23, 1952, he married Ruth M. Hawks of Fort Morgan. Bob raised his family and farmed in the Hillrose community. The family moved to Brush in 1973 where Bob worked at Farmers Elevator doing small engine repair and hardware sales. He retired in 1986, but enjoyed working part time at the Elevator and for Great Western Sugar Co. during beet harvest.

Bob was a member of the Brush United Methodist Church, where he was active as a trustee and participated with the BUMMS. Bob's hobbies included bowling, woodworking and working in his yard. He loved to sing and dance. He especially enjoyed family gatherings including camping, traveling, fine dining and playing cards. In his younger years Bob enjoyed playing baseball with the Hillrose town team.

Survivors include: his wife, Ruth of Brush; 3 children: Dennis (Sharon) Cox of Berthoud, CO, Ryan (Sheryl) Cox of Homosassa, FL and Cheryl (Mike) Hollis of Erie, CO; 3 sisters: Roberta (Charles) Collier of Arvada, CO, Patty Lou Emhovick of Englewood, CO and Jeanette (Mel) Teter of Brush; 1 brother: Frank L "Ted" Cox of Colorado Springs; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Elsie Cox; and 1 granddaughter, Leslie Hollis.

A Memorial Service will be held at Brush United Methodist Church on Friday, September 1st at 10:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon. Inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to Brush United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
