Robert Dale Pflager, 81, lifetime resident of Fort Morgan, CO, was called home on September 11, 2020.  He passed away peacefully at his home.  Robert was born January 23, 1939 in Fort Morgan to Dale and Esther (Lapp) Pflager.

Robert graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1957.  In June 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Janice Regan, and for most of their 63 years they resided in Fort Morgan.  Robert & Janice were blessed with 3 children, Sherri (Pflager) Nikont and her husband, Brett; Kerri (Pflager) Iserman and Kent Pflager and his wife, Jan.

Early on, Bob managed the Sears store in Fort Morganlater pursuing his career with the  Rural Electric Association.  He worked his way up the ladder, earning many accolades including, but not limited to, serving on the NCDC Board of Directors 1992 – 2001.  Robert retired as General Manager of Morgan County REA in January, 2001.

Robert was very proud of serving 22 years with the Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Department.  Once again he worked his way up to several offices.  Retiring as 1 ^st Captain.  While a fireman, Bob competed with the Race Horse Team, going on to win several state championships in individual and team events.

Robert never did anything half-way.  Sporting and outdoor events were his passion.  Hunting was a lifetime hobby.  He would spend weeks planning hunting trips, shoeing his own horses, building his own guns and loading his own shells  The stories of these hunting trips with his father, son and close friends were told many times over the years.  He took pride in sharing his love of hunting with his grandkids.

We he decided to take up golf he was "all in".  Starting with the rule book and progressing to making his own golf clubs for himself and many others.  He enjoyed golf well into his retirement.

Not all of his hobbies were out-doors.  He spent many hours bowling, playing cribbage and gambling away his kids' inheritance in Black Hawk and Laughlin with friends.

The family cherishes the summer weekends that were spent in the Big Thompson Canyon near Drake, CO.  Fishing, picking apples, campfires, wading in the river, and family gatherings were always on the agenda.

Survivors include his wife, Janice, his three children, Sherri, Kerri, and Kent and their spouses; 3 sisters, Joyce Deal, Sharon Henderson and her husband, Kenny, and Teresa Pflager; 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews all of who were his pride and joy.

Bob was a man of few words but it meant the world to him to be surrounded by family and friends and today you honor him by celebrating his life.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan.  Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan.  Visitation will be at the Heer Chapel on Monday, September 14 from 5 – 7 PM.  Friends who wish may give memorial gifts to the Fort Morgan Fire Department c/o Heer Mortuary.
