ROBIN ELAINE GONZALES, 42, of Fort Morgan, went walking on the sandy beaches with the Lord on May 19, 2010. She passed away at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan. She was born May 22, 1967 in Kimball, NE to Jim & Judy Shannon of Grove, OK, and formerly of Fort Morgan. Robin graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1985, and the floral design school in Denver in 1986. On July 23, 1988, Robin married her soul mate and best friend, Tom Gonzales. She began her career in the floral industry as manager and designer at Shannon's Floral in Fort Morgan. In 2000, Robin put aside her love for flowers and concentrated on her other love, coaching. She worked at the Fort Morgan Middle School for six years and coached track and volleyball. Robin's other interests included tennis, quilting, walking, and traveling with family. Robin faithfully devoted her time volunteering for the Wildlife Sanctuary, Red Cross, and Caring Ministries. She spent tireless hours advocating for charities such as the MS Society and Relay For Life. Robin loved being with family and friends who loved her very much. Robin was a member of the Sanctuary Church and actively involved in the New Freedom Church of Fort Morgan. Robin is preceded in death by her grandparents; Carl Stahla, Albert Kohl, Gene & Marcella Shannon; and her mother-in-law, Alphie Gonzales. Also her beloved cats; Sheena, Addison, Devon, and Bryson. Robin is survived by her husband of 21 years, Tom Gonzales; grandmother, Fern Stahla of Kimball, NE; her parents; two daughters, Brandy (Gonzales) Chaffin and son-in-law Ty Chaffin of Grand Junction; Stephanie (Gonzales) Schoenauer and son-in-law Nate Schoenauer of Fort Morgan; two sisters, Vickie (Shannon) Messick and her husband Scott Messick of Fort Collins, Angie (Shannon) Keefe and her husband Joe Keefe of Fort Morgan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, McKayla Lange, MaKenzie Lange, Travess Chaffin, Amanda Chaffin, and David Chaffin, of Grand Junction and Brooklyn Schoenauer of Fort Morgan; her nephews, Ryan Keefe of California, Taylor Keefe of Fort Morgan, and Josh Morgan of Fort Collins; her niece, Brittney Morgan of Fort Collins; and her beloved cats, Shea, Martin, Sunny, and Charlie. Join her family in the celebration of her life that will include a public viewing on Monday, May 24th from 4 – 8 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan and then a memorial service on Tuesday, May 25th at 4:00 PM at the Sanctuary, 330 State Street in Fort Morgan. Robin was a person who was involved in many charitable organizations. To honor her memory, donations may be made in the name of Robin Gonzales in care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuary.
