Roger D. Steele, 86, a 28-year resident of Morgan County, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021, at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. He was born September 18, 1934, in Denver, CO to Edward & Lucille Steele.
Roger married Patty Sams on January 31, 1953, in Denver. Roger farmed in the Fort Lupton community for several years before attending seminary. After receiving his license to preach, Roger & Patty served several Churches including Berthoud Assembly of God, First Assembly of God in Golden, CO; Chapel of the Plains in Stoneham, CO; Evangel Temple in Denver; and served as associate pastor for the Sanctuary in Fort Morgan.
Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing (especially trout fishing), in his younger years flying his friends in the Cessna, and visiting with people. He loved taking his grandchildren fishing and camping. He was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Survivors include his 6 children, Larry (Diane) Steele, David (Pam) Steele, Kenneth (Judy) Steele, Kathy (Richard) Stanley, Karen (Dale) Weiderspon, and Roger Steele; his foster son Jacob Johnson; 1 brother, William Steele; 3 sisters, Phyllis Stinson, Peggy Dunn, and Hedy Muldoon; and 17 grandchildren, Joshua, John, Jonalee, Samantha, Jamie, Cassidy, Cameron, Carrie, Marcus, Angela, Calvin, Danielle, Dustie, Brandon, Breanne, Derek, and Luke; and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, 1 sister Zella Thiel; and his parents.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 11:00 AM at the Interment Chapel (Gazebo) at the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Family prefers memorial gifts be given to the Roger Steele Memorial Fund c/o the Heer Mortuary, 222 Cameron Street, Brush, CO 80723.
There will be a limited number of chairs available for seating during the service. Those attending may want to bring their own lawn chair.
