Ronald Joseph Banks, 80, of Fort Morgan, died Wednesday evening at the Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan. He was born March 3, 1930 in Mystic, Connecticut to George and Alice Banks. He married Vivian Wheeler on January 19, 1951 in New London. Ronald served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War as a Registered Nurse. He continued his career serving in the Army in several countries before retiring in Florida. Ronald and Vivian moved from Port St. Lucie to Fort Morgan in 2004 to be closer to their family. He was a member of the Christ Congregational Church, the St. Lucie Yacht Club in Florida, the GOP, and the NRA . He enjoyed keeping bees, gardening, fishing, camping and traveling. He is survived by his children, Judith Wunsch, of Fort Morgan, Jeffry Banks, of Eagle River, Alaska, and Cynthia Vanderbloom of Denver; one brother, Charlie Banks of Ledyard, Connecticut and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian, his sister, Betty Banks and his parents. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the Christ Congregational Church in Fort Morgan.
