RONALD M. LIITTJOHANN, 80, died early Sunday morning, July 11, 2010. He was born in Topeka, KS to Faye & Joseph Liittjohann. He graduated from high school in Iowa Falls, IA and from Simpson College in Indianola, IA. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged two years later. He then worked as a civilian for the Army Audit Agency in Seattle and Reno. After moving to Denver, he worked for Stone Gray & Co. as a C.P.A. He married his wife, Flo, in 1957. In 1961, he was elected treasurer of the newly incorporated city of Broomfield, Colorado. Mr. & Mrs. Liittjohann lived in Broomfield until moving to Fort Morgan in 1966. Mr. Liittjohann accepted the position of president of the American Hog Co. in Hoyt. While managing this company, he was on the executive boards of the Colorado and National Pork Producers Councils and on the National Livestock Conservation Institute. He opened his own C.P.A. practice in 1980, and was a lifetime member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was active in civil affairs and was a former Fort Morgan city councilman. He served as chairman of the 1984 Fort Morgan Centennial Celebration. He was a board member and president of the Fort Morgan Country Club, and a life member of the Elks Lodge and Lions Club. He served on the Morgan County and Colorado Habitat for Humanity boards, as well as the Colorado Housing board. He volunteered for many years at Saint Helena Catholic Church, and was active in the Knights of Columbus, serving a term as Grand Knight. He was an avid golfer and sports fan. Survivors include his wife, Flo, of Fort Morgan and five children, J. Michael Liittjohann of The Woodlands, TX, Cynthia Frazer of Lexington, KY, Debra Murphy of Greeley, CO, Jana Hamik of Fort Morgan, CO, and Ronald M. Liittjohann Jr. of Thornton, Co. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Liittjohann. A rosary vigil will be Sunday, July 18th at 7:00 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 19th at 11:00 AM at Saint Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Services will conclude at the church. Private family inurnment will be in Serenity Falls Columbarium in Fort Morgan. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to Saint Helena Church in Fort Morgan or Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Weldona, or to the charity of their choice.
