Ronald E. Prascher, 76, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at his home in Brush. He was born June 26, 1939, in Sarben, NE, to Hubert S. & Pauline E. Prascher. Ron graduated from North Platte, NE High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in math & science from the University of Nebraska - Kearney in 1962. Ron taught algebra and geometry in Maywood, NE from 1962 - 65. He was high school principal in Maywood from 1965 -66 and the Superintendent of Schools in Wilsonville, NE 1966 - 69, while working on his Educational Doctorate degree. Ron worked full-time on his doctorate degree in 1969 - 70. Ron married Elaine Campbell on August 8, 1970. They moved to Brush in 1970, also that year, where Ron served as the Brush High School Principal. In 1975 he graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with his Educational Doctorate degree in Educational Administration. He was the first in his family to complete an undergraduate degree or beyond. Ron continued to serve as Principal at Brush High School until 1997, when he retired. In 2000 Ron was hired to be the Executive Director of the Brush area Chamber of Commerce. Among the projects that he was very involved with for the Chamber of Commerce, were the Main Street Improvement Project and the All American City designation for Brush. Ron loved working with the people of Brush and the surrounding area. Ron was a member and past president (1978-79 & 1996-97) of the Brush Rotary Club, served on the club board from 2005 - 2015, and was Assistant Rotary District Governor 1995 - 1999. The Ron Prascher Interact Service Award was created in 2003 and given annually at the annual Rotary District 5450 Conference for the outstanding Interact Club of the Year. He was an associate member of the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church, where he served on the Church Board for 5 years; and he served on the EMCH Foundation Board. He was a Northeast Colorado Travel Region Board member, Blue Horizons Board member, on the Historical Preservation Board, on the Central School Committee, Save Our Sands (SOS) Committee, Downtown Streetscape Committee, Brush Area Museum Curators Committee, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Committee, CACE Committee, Ports to Plains / Heartland South Committee, Brush Rodeo Association member, in the Brush Stakeholder's Group, and a past Board President and volunteer at the United Way of Morgan County. He was an avid Nebraska Husker Football Fan and enjoyed playing tennis and ping pong in his younger years. Ron loved to joke and to play good-natured pranks. He had an inspirational disposition and approach to life and people. Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Brush; 2 children, Daniel (Emily) Prascher of Centennial, CO and Mirrelle Prascher of Brush; 1 sister, Paula Borron of Arlington, TX; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Funeral service will be Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the Brush High School Auditorium at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow in the school cafeteria. Interment services will be Friday at 9:00 AM at the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush on Wednesday from 3-6 PM. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Brush Rotary Club Foundation, Caring Ministries of Morgan County, EMCH Foundation or to the SARA House all c/o the Heer Mortuary.
